After
so many solo albums, and having
seen you play live duos with
so many great guitarists, what
led to you recording the CD
with Frank Vignola?
I
really wanted to record with
frank because it was obvious
we had a great chemistry and
he is one of the best players
I've ever worked with. He
made me try harder.
Your
touring schedule looks very
demanding ? how would you feel
on a desert island by yourself?
Just
quite comfortable thank you.
You
are coming to the UK in March
and again in August and November
? could you imagine living here
again or have you found your
home in the USA now?
I
could live anywhere. The
only reason I would live in
the UK is to be with my children
more often. I love living
in America, but I could live
in Australia , England, Germany,
Thailand.
What
has been the most rewarding
moment of your career?
Raising
money to help others.
What
make is your guitar and what
do you love most about it?
My
guitars are Matons and I love
everything about them. They
are Australian made. I
love the way they feel. They
sound better than any guitar
I've ever heard and it just
feels like a part of me.
What
music do you listen to the most
at the moment?
At
the moment I've been listening
to Michael Jackson's off the
wall album. Today I listened
to an early album by Kris Kristofferson.
If I want to listen to
guitar playing, I listen to
Django Rheinhardt.
How
do you find time to compose
new songs with such a heavy
touring schedule?
I
wait patiently for inspiration
or a good idea and when it comes
I try to take it to its fruition.
It's not always easy writing
on the road. I've forgotten
more things than I remember
because I'm interrupted by a
flight or something.
If
you could perform with any musician
in the world, who would you
choose and why?
I
think I get extreme enjoyment
playing with Frank Vignola.
What
is the most exciting or surprising
thing that has happened to you
on stage?
Every
night is exciting and every
night is different and it's
hard to say that one night is
better than another. There's
always a different level of
feeling in the room.
Your
performance of Winnie The Pooh
on Poppin Guitars was a wonderful
surprise for your fans anything
else like that on the horizon?
My
future albums will include a
lot of great guest artists including
John Knowles and Doyle Dykes
