Most Popular Music Shows On TV

Music has been an integral part of our life and in this modern world, it has been everywhere. Whether it is on the radio, in movies, on worldfree4u, on a crowd-packed street, or when we watch TV online, we can hear music everywhere. However, before reality music programs such as American Idol came to light, music shows have been limited.

Now, TV series centered around musicians and their lives are a constant find on most channels. A huge contributor to the presence of music shows is thanks to the massive TV series Glee. Currently, shows that depict the trials of being a musician and making a name in the industry are some of the most-watched TV shows around. Listed below are some of the most popular music shows found on TV.

Top of The Pops

Aired on BBC, BBC One and Two, Britain’s Top of the Pop was watched on approximately 100 countries during its peak. The show already achieved a staggering 2,212 episodes. The show ended its regular run in the year 2006, but it still continued its Christmas season specials. The music chart television program aired its pilot episode in the year 1964. During that time, their New Year’s special featured the iconic Beatles group. Top of the Pops became a huge part of British Television culture.

American Idol

The reality singing TV show American Idol has become a cultural phenomenon and currently has 16 seasons in its wake. The show basically features singing hopefuls who audition in front of three judges, namely the original trio Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson, and Simon Cowell.

The judges, with the help of viewer votes, choose the winner or the so-called American Idol. The winner will then leave the show with a record deal as well as fame and fortune that comes along with it. The hit ABC series was the progenitor of many successful TV shows such as X-Factor and The Voice. However, the arrival of these shows also caused the ratings of American Idol to be lowered.

The Voice

Currently airing on various networks around the globe, the Voice is an international reality TV singing competition franchise. Due to its worldwide success, it became a worthy rival of other singing competition franchises such as Idols or X-Factor.

The famous revolving chairs and blind audition concept became an immense hit. In the year 2013 and 2015, The Voice garnered a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program.

Glee

Even though Glee has aired its final episode on March 2015, it is still considered a worldwide hit until now. The series Glee is an American-based comedy music show that aired on Fox in the USA. It has a storyline that is set on William McKinley High School’s Glee club. The music on this show mostly consisted of covers of original individual songs and sometimes mashups. The commercial success of Glee even led to the show’s song covers reaching a place on the Billboard Hot 100.
